I do not on a daily basis troll around the 'net for stories involving black on white or white on black.

Here is a question.

Are the KC police investigating this in a competent manner or have they fucked it up.

 

It is hard to tell because there has been little attention to this. Black on white crime is considered to be a dog bites man story. It happens all the time, and gets little attention. White on black crime is a man bites dog story. That is one of the reason it makes the news.

The other reason is that the mainstream media is generally liberal on racial issues, and is reluctant to portray blacks unfavorably. In the United States newspapers frequently have a policy of not reporting the race of criminal suspects.

 

Thats actualy not hard to explain. Gunshot wounds are almost never as cool as they look in the movies. Handgun bullets especialy disrupt very little tissue at the point of entry, and often the entrance wound doesnt bleed right away or in some cases at all. Exit wounds, if there is one are a totaly different matter. Handgun bullets carried by police and most armed citizens are of the hollow point variety. They have a hollow cavity in the very point or nose of the bullet that upon impact is filled with blood and other tissue under tremendous pressure that causes the bullet to mushroom rapidly after impact. The increased frontal area of the bullet contacts more tissue and creates a larger wound channel through the body and speeds up the process of energy transfer from the bullet to the body. The result is greater hydrostatic shock to the tissues and greater overall tissue damage and hence, the target is neutralized much faster.

But because of the greater frontal area of the bullet and its usualy lighter weight due to the hollow cavity in the nose, the bullet also tends to stop faster and penetrate less than a typical military style jacketed round nosed bullet, so very often there is no exit wound. When there is an exit wound its usualy somewhat larger than the entrance wound and is usualy more inclined to bleed profusely rather than not at all or very little. Some entrance wounds do bleed quite profusely but that happens less often.

Also, Trayvon was wearing a hoodie sweatshirt that would have contained much of the back splatter and any major bleeding since handgun bullets dont blow the clothes off a persons body but rather simply punch a very small hole in them that can be mended again in minuets with a needle and some thread. Had he been shot in an exposed portion of his body, the backsplatter from a contact or near contact range gunshot would have certainly left at least some blood on Zimmermans clothes and hand.

 

Saddly, I have to agree with this point. I know a guy who writes for the Seattle Times and that is the general policy of all media outlets, unless the person in question is white, asian or in some cases hispanic.

However, I dont buy the central premise that blacks are genetically predisposed to criminal behavior just because crime rates in black neighborhoods are high. The FBI has stated for many years that the single most common factor in both violent crime and property crimes is economics. And that is seen in poor white neighborhoods just as much as poor hispanic and poor black neighborhoods. And its not hard to see why a group of people that has been marginalized for many generations would have difficulty generating enough momentum to break that trend. but those who have broken that trend have shown themselves to be perfectly capable of everything white people are...plus they have bigger dicks and a sense of rythem which I suspect may be the root of your dislike of black people.

 

My parents taught me not to hate blacks. Some time ago I got tired of making excuses for them. I have lived with poor Orientals. I was perfectly safe.

Well that is the fault of the people using the media, tell them what you want to hear and not the other way around, if they refuse change channels or papers. You have grown complacent and allow them to decide what is the news and what isn't.

Because the perpetrators where caught and charged. In the case that this thread was set up to discuss the killer walked out of the police station without being charged or bailed to return, plus the sate prosecutor messed up and went against the advice of the investigating detective. There is a big difference between the cases.

Blacks kill whites - charged with murder.

White kills black - sent home without charges being preferred.

Do you see the difference.

 

Richief answered your question. But the important question is this: why are YOU and others who are predisposed to blame black people for every crime so determined to change the subject? "Look over there!"

DL, for reasons known only to him, always uses the term "Orientals"...which serves to remind me, on a daily basis, how out of touch he is with reality.

 

Perhaps I come across as being naive, but where I come from a hate crime is a hate crime is a hate crime. I'm not sure if it's because of our demographics or because we're a smaller city, but the third largest in NY.

According to the 2010 Census, the city's population was 43.7% White (37.6% non-Hispanic White alone), 41.7% Black or African American (38.8% non-Hispanic Black or African American alone), 0.5% American Indian and Alaska Native, 3.1% Asian, 0.0% Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, 6.6% from some other race and 4.4% from two or more races. 16.4% of the total population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, mostly made up of Puerto Ricans.

Whether or not this case turns out to be a hate crime, or an act of a vigilante, it doesn't change the fact that a grown adult with a gun followed a kid walking home in the rain with a pack of skittles and a can of ice tea. Suspicious? In whose mind?

 

I have several times pointed out why I use the term "Oriental." The alternative terms are "Asian" and "Mongoloid." "Asian" can refer to the people of India, as well as Arabs and Iranians. These are Caucasian.

"Mongoloid" can refer to those with Down's Syndrome.

So, how am I out of touch with reality?

 

The difference is not quite as clear as you maintain. The American press tends to under play black crimes, and homosexual crimes.

On October 12, 1998 Matthew Shapard was beaten to death by two men he picked up in a bar. This was a national news story for several months. There was even an effort to implicate the religious right. When it was pointed out that neither of the killers attended church, there were those who averred that the killers had learned their hostility toward homosexuals from the religious right by a process of osmosis.

While all this was going on two adult homosexual men raped and tortured to death a fourteen year old boy. That was not national news. I only read about it once several years later.

So, let's go back to the crime I mentioned in comment #306. I just learned about that yesterday when I went looking for it. Let's imagine that instead of a fresh faced innocent looking white couple the victims were a fresh faced innocent looking black couple. Let us imagine that they were murdered, and the woman gang raped, by five brutal looking white thugs.

That would have been national news. There would have been a huge funeral for the victims. National politicians would have been expected to attend. The Reverend Jesse Jackson would have given a moving sermon about how this crime exposed the dark underside of white racism in America.

Since the killing of Trayvon Martin any number of whites have been murdered by blacks in the United States. We do not know who they were, because it was not national news. With many of these crimes, if the murder was even reported in the local newspaper, the race of the murderers were not reported.

In the United States there is a concerted effort by the news media to underestimate black crimes against whites, why exaggerating the extent and significance of white crimes against blacks.

When I point out that in the United States blacks have a rate of violent crime that is over seven times the white crime rate my revelation is responded to with anger, and I suspect a certain amount of surprise. Many posters are probably learning it for the first time.

 

In my local newspaper the race of a criminal suspect is not reported. Nevertheless, if the crime is brutal, and requires no intelligence readers do need to be told the race of the criminal. We can guess.

Whenever my local newspaper prints the photograph of a young black man it is nearly always the case that he is a local athlete, or that he has been arrested or convicted.

 

Alright I'm not to sure about this story on two counts. One I don't really trust the source and two it uses an anonymous source. But it makes pretty interesting reading and if it is true it helps establish a pattern of overreaction and violence on the part of George Zimmerman.

George Zimmerman claims that his nose was broken. That should be easy to verify, even if it has healed, with an x ray exam.

 

I cant help but to think that if there is some sort of trial that it has become tainted with all this press coverage.....

 

On the one hand I don't think so because most of the investigation should depend on forensic evidence, which admittedly has been seriously compromised by the shoddy police investigation. But they should still be able to separate fact from fiction.

But on the other hand I also have to admit that the reporting of the Trayvon Martin killing is as shoddy or worse than the initial police investigation. I know I've been burned a couple times posting things I got from usually reliable news sources that turned out to be wrong or debatable.

 

Not to mention Obama's commentary.
